acesa and aucat launch a special traffic operation to ensure traffic flows smoothly on its road network over the Sant Joan long weekend and over summer

acesa and aucat have launched a special operation to ensure that traffic flows smoothly on its road network over the Sant Joan long weekend and the start of the summer holidays and that drivers can make their journeys as safely as possible. The first phase of this operation comes into force for the Sant Joan long weekend and includes, amongst other measures, adding extra staff to professional teams to offer optimal service to users and meet the needs arising from increased traffic.

No roadworks will be carried out to widen the AP-7 toll road from two to three lanes along the Mediterráneo (junction with the AP-2) - Vila-seca/Salou section during the times and days of heaviest traffic over this Sant Joan long weekend.

For the operation starting tomorrow, 20 June, acesa will open a third lane southbound between the junction with the C-32 (Pau Casals) toll road and the AP-7, and for the return operation on 24 June a third lane will be opened northbound between El Vendrell and Barcelona. In addition, traffic islands will be set up at several points along the road so drivers can make emergency stops.

Summer measures

acesa and aucat will also offer a 50% discount on certain tolls to help ensure traffic flows smoothly and avoid congestion building up at certain times. The measure, which will be applied on the C-32 and C-33 tollroads and also on the AP-7, will be available to VIA-T customers during specific times over weekends this summer, from 21 June to 14 September. The discount will be applied at tolls at Vilassar (C-32), Mollet (C-33), La Roca (AP-7), Martorell (AP-7) and Vallcarca (C-32).

Customers who go through the tolls at the specified times will receive the discount when they settle their invoice through their bank, in accordance with the usual procedures.

acesa and aucat are taking this measure with the authorisation of the Spanish Ministry of Public Works, in the case of the AP-7, and the Catalan Ministry of Territorial Policies and Public Works, in the case of the C-32 and the C-33. The main purpose of offering this discount is achieve balanced traffic flows during these two summer operations by encouraging drivers to use the roads at off-peak times and avoid using them at times when traffic is heaviest.
