Before setting off on your journey it is necessary to check your vehicle. In the Summer, with high temperatures, it is advisable to check:
1)The levels of brake fluid, oil, windscreen washer and radiator liquid.
2)The battery charge and the state of its connectors.
3)The condition, pressure and tread of the tyres. Remember that a tyre below its correct pressure will deteriorate quicker.
On days or at times of heavy traffic, don't forget to take the necessary precautions when driving. Whenever possible, advance or delay your journey so that it does not coincide with the rest of the people travelling.
Bear in mind that the sunshine may make visibility difficult. If you are travelling towards the east, try to avoid travelling in the early hours of the morning, if travelling west at the last hours of the evening.
Place the luggage in a balanced way so as not to reduce visibility or hinder movement. On long journeys it is advisable to drive comfortably. If you are travelling with children they should have their seatbelts fastened.
On the night before your journey, try to rest and sleep sufficient hours, eat food that is easy to digest and do not drink alcoholic drinks. In this way you will maintain your reaction ability.
In open spaces, at the hottest times of the day, you may see a blurred image, a reflection on the horizon which alters your perception of distances. This is a mirage. Take special care, if you are driving in this kind of area which apparently seem to have no danger. Heat is our enemy, even if you are driving with air-conditioning.
