Breakdown and health incidents are not the only on-road issues co-ordinated by the Operations Centre. It also deals with managing accidents, motorway maintenance work, fires, traffic jams and the removal of stray animals, objects and abandoned vehicles, amongst other matters.
The Centre is not just responsible for field work: it also prepares accident and complaint reports, special transport permits and traffic studies.
