The Government’s Plan PIVE (Efficient Vehicle Incentive Programme) aims to modernise the total number of cars in Spain through replacing private cars and light trade vehicles, of more than 10 and 7 years respectively, with models with high energy efficiency, lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The renewal of vehicles has been shown to be one of the most efficient measures for reducing energy consumption, with additional positive effects on environmental matters and highway safety.
The PIVE offers a grant of 2,000 Euros to people who definitively get rid of their old car and buy a new, less contaminating vehicle. Large families will receive a grant of 3,000 Euros for vehicles (M1) with more than 5 places.
The PIVE 2 programme, which has been given an injection of 150 million Euros, will be valid from 4 February 2013 and will last for 12 months or until the funds have been used up.
abertis autopistas recommends that, before taking to the road, you check the state of your vehicle and carry out periodical controls on the safety devices.
