A brilliant performance has taken the German, Jochen Hahn – who drives for the MAN team – into the lead in the European Truck Racing Championship, ahead of Antonio Albacete, the Spaniard. Hahn won all four races at the Misano Circuit, the second meeting of the season.
These four wins put Hahn at the top of the table with 90 points, 6 more than Antonio Albacete. Albacete was on the podium after every race, coming second three times and third on the fourth. The Spaniard thus goes into the next event in the calendar – the Nations Grand Prix, to be held in Albacete on the 4th and 5th of June – well positioned to capture the lead.
In Misano, Jochen Hahn gave a demonstration of top driving throughout the whole of the weekend. He dominated right from the training runs on Saturday, and all through the four races. Meanwhile, Antonio Albacete had to use all his experience to overtake the two Renault Trucks’ drivers, Adam Lacko and Markus Oestreich, who started just ahead of him. In the second race, after starting in seventh place due to the reversed grid rule, Albacete advanced spectacularly and was in second place, but in the end took third place after being docked five seconds for overtaking incorrectly.
On Sunday, the two MAN drivers were unbeatable. Jochen Hahn and Antonio Albacete took the first two places on the podium after each of the two races.
