What's Vía T
VIA-T is an electronic toll payment system used on Spanish toll motorways to pay for the journey without having to stop the vehicle as, thanks to a device located inside the car and an electronic reader located at the toll booths, the safety barrier is raised automatically.
When the vehicle equipped with its Vía T goes along the lane, an aerial detects its movement, the device beeps and the barrier is raised so that the vehicle can continue.
On motorways that accept the use of Vía T as a method of payment, the lanes equipped with this system are indicated using the following sign:
